Can I slim down by doing yoga?

No, you will gain weight. The number on your scale will be higher. BUT! You will be leaner, muscles more defined and fit.

How and why?

When we practice regularly, our muscles will be well toned and defined, and fat will be transformed into muscles. When muscles becoming denser, you will be heavier. As fat is lighter than muscles, you will see the number increasing on your weighing scale. We measure our fat with a specific fat measurement machine, not by the number on the scale. Hence, no, you can’t lose weight but you'll look leaner and better! Muscles? We ladies do not want big bulging muscles! Relax. Ladies do not have that hormone to build big muscles unless you take supplements for muscle-building. So, there's no need to worry.

Yoga will give you a good look, not only on the physical part but the inside too. Blood circulation, fluid circulation will be improved, keeping diseases at bay. It tones the internal organs and even regulates the hormonal system. You'll have a better immune system and respiratory system in addition to having a balanced hormonal and nervous system. Some of the postures have anti-aging effect where it helps to improve skin complexion or even promoting hair growth! Regulating the hormonal system is especially good for ladies who are going through and after menopause. The breathing and meditation part will relax and calm the mind.

Yoga improves your overall health and well-being.
